The WCC Champion in each division is chosen by members during a set time window. Members vote in an official online poll, and the WCC confirms the final results after the poll closes.
Who Can Vote
- Retired world champions
- Fans can vote if they have an active WCC fan membership.
How Voting Works
- Pick your division. Go to the poll for the division you want to vote in.
- Select a fighter and submit your vote.
- You can vote more than once. Fans may vote as often as they choose (each vote has a fee).
- Voting closes. Polls usually close at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on the date of the applicable election period (unless the WCC sets a different close time).
- WCC verifies results. The WCC checks and counts votes, then confirms the final totals.
- The winner becomes champion. The eligible fighter with the most votes becomes the WCC Champion for that division.
Fees
- Membership: Fans need an active membership to vote.
- Voting fee: Divisions charge a per-vote fee (plus processing fees). Fees vary by division.
Special Cases
- Unification bout: If a unification bout is contested and there is not a current WCC champion in the division, that bout becomes a WCC Championship Bout, the winner becomes the WCC Champion division in the division.
- Undisputed champion: If a fighter becomes the undisputed world champion in a division, that fighter is automatically recognized as the WCC Champion while they remain undisputed.
- Ties or suspected abuse: If there’s a tie or suspected fraud/system issues, the WCC may re-count votes and take steps to protect the integrity of the poll.
WCC division ratings are built from two separate rankings—one from retired world champions and one from fans. Each ranking gives fighters points based on where they place, and the two point totals are added together to create a fighter’s overall (combined) rating.
How the Combined Rating Is Calculated
- Two rankings are collected: (1) a retired world champions ranking and (2) a fan ranking.
- Points are assigned: Fighters earn points in each ranking based on their placement (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th).
- Points are added: A fighter’s Combined Rating = (champions poll points) + (fan poll points).
- Higher total = higher rating: The fighter with the most total points is rated #1 for that division.
Points by Placement
| Place | Champions | Fans |
| 1st | 32 | 8 |
| 2nd | 24 | 6 |
| 3rd | 16 | 4 |
| 4th | 8 | 2 |
Example
Example results:
- Retired champions voting results: A 65%, B 20%, C 10%, D 5%.
- Fan voting results: B 45%, A 43%, D 10%, C 2%.
| Fighter | Champions | Fans | Total |
| A | 32 | 6 | 38 |
| B | 24 | 8 | 32 |
| C | 16 | 2 | 18 |
| D | 8 | 4 | 12 |
In this example, Fighter A has the highest combined total, so Fighter A is the champion in the division.
Ties and Changes
- If there’s a tie or suspected issues: The WCC may re-count votes/points and take steps to keep the ratings fair.
- Points can be updated: The WCC may change the points schedule in the future.
